A 2 Day workshop on strengthening research for Trauma and emergency care

A total number 109 participants attended the workshop categorized as Surgeons (1), Dental Surgeon (3), Medical Doctors (14), Nurses (86), and Midwifes (5).

Presentations for the day included framing a meaningful research question, study design, literature review, conduct of research, data entry, statistical methods and analysis of data, presentation of results and discussion of findings, publishing research findings, and using research findings to promote improvements in care.

The workshop began at 9:00 in the morning and ended at 4:30 for the entire period. Participants were encouraged to submit concepts and contact management for research support to conduct injury prevention research in order to contribute to injury control in Northern Ghana. Participants appreciated the knowledge of facilitators and pointed out that their mind set on injury issues have been broaden. They recommended a follow-up workshop where participants’ knowledge will be reviewed to find out the extent of impact generated out of the training at Tamale Teaching Hospital.
